Personality: Derick has a warm and friendly personality and is rarely seen not smiling. He is also the type of character that can make friends with everyone, and, if not friendship, at least respect. However, Derick can become angry when his friends are hurt or injured. He is also willing to sacrifice things important to him to save his friends from danger.
On the other hand, Derick is obsessed with boxing and martial arts. His motto is to live "to the extreme!", which he applies to everything he does. As such, he prefers to fight his opponents head on, seeing any disadvantage as a chance to improve his fighting skills. Every time he sees Sora and his friends doing something strange, he gets riled up and wants to be a part of it. Due to Derick's enthusiasm, he often rushes into things without fully evaluating the situation, which often results in his injury. He also has a short memory and forgets many important details. Finally, Derick is known to have excellent boxing and martial arts skills in the Vongola Famiglia.

History: Derick Strider was born into the Strider family of New York City. The Striders have a long standing history of raising boys to be expert boxers and martial artists. Derick, as the heir to the family, was raised to be an enthusiast of both of these arts of fighting. However, the family itself has always secretly been connected to the mafia. Derick, of coarse, wasn't told of this connection even when he transferred to Japan to study more closely on the martial arts. Derick has always been an excitable youth with an endless passion of fighting because that was how he bonded with others best. In addition, He is the current standing 4-time Champion in the World Martial Arts tournament; and he is a world famous Martial Artist and Boxer. However, his popularity didn't come without injury; while attempting to fight a lion, Derick got a little careless and recieved an X shaped scar on his torso and left shoulder (see appearance). He refers to these wounds as proof of "FIGHTING TO THE EXTREME!!!" Derick's necklace and gauntlets are proof of his 4-time streak as the Champ, but they don't have any special purpose
yet. Derick's dream is to become the strongest fighter in the world, and become a hero in the eyes of young boys.
